ISODEL 2009 Conference in Jogjakarta - Dec 8 - 11 - Part 1

The International Symposium of Distance Education and E-Learning (ISODEL) 2009 was held at the Sheraton Hotel in Jogjakarta from December 8 to 12 2009. Speakers, presenters and other interested educationists made up the over 560 participants who have come from 16 countries.

The Open University Malaysia delegation to symposium was led by its President and Vice Chancellor, YBhg Tan Sri Professor Emeritus Dr. Anuwar Ali include Puan Sri, Prof. Mansor, Richard Ng, Rozeman, Mohd Jamaluddin, Tuan Fatma and Myzatul.

The delegation left on Tuesday Dec 8 at 9.20am and arrived at Jogjakarta airport at 11.00am local time (12.00 noon Malaysian time). We arrived at the Sheraton Hotel where the delegation stayed at 11.30am. We were met on arrival by the secretariat of symposium, Malini.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Day 2

Day-2 Dec 6, 2009 started at 8.30am sharp with the first speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Widad, the dean of the Faculty of Education and Language of OUM. Prof. Widad touched on the learners' learning experience at OUM and their expectations of our performance.

The second speaker was Prof. Dr. Shaari, the dean of the Faculty of Business and Management of OUM. Prof. Shaari touched on the standard and guidelines of the new assessment practices at OUM.

We then had tea break at 9.30am. At 10.00am, all the participants were gathered in their respective faculties for a group discussion and brain-storming session. Participants were given 2 hours to complete their tasks. At the end of the discussions, suggestions and ideas were collected and submitted to the management for follow-up actions.

Richard Ng, the Regional Director of Perak, were given the honor to deliver the "Thank You" speech on behalf CTMD to all speakers and participants. The 2-day session which began on December 5, were then closed by Prof. Dr. Shaari Hamid.

Participants were grouped in their respective region for a group photograph session. Participants then proceed for lunch before it was adjourned.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Dinner

On the night of Day-1, participants were invited for dinner with the Senior VP of OUM Prof. Dr. Mansor Fadzil and the Deans, held at the ball room of Cinta Sayang Resort. Dinner started sharp at 8.00pm with a speech from the OUM Regional Director of Penang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Toh Wah followed by a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Santhi, the director of CTMD.

Richard Ng, OUM Regional Director of Perak also gave a performance by singing a Hindi song with back up dancer provided by Mr Segar, the Lead Tutor from Kedah. Then it was followed by a performance from Dr. Santhi.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Day 1

This is the third colloquium organized by the Centre for Tutor Management and Development (CTMD) of Open University Malaysia for its tutors and facilitators attached to its Northern regional centres in Kedah/Perlis, Penang and Perak.

About 150 tutors, management and staffs of OUM were present at the colloquium held at the Cinta Sayang Resort in Sungai Petani. The colloquium was opened by OUM's Senior VP, Prof. Dr. Mansor Fadzil. In his opening speech, Prof. Mansor thanked all the tutors and facilitators for their support as front liners of OUM. He reminded them to give their utmost to their students and treat them as if they are their brothers or sisters.

Prof. Dr. Tan Toh Wah) and Perak (Richard Ng).

Bahang Bola Sepak Piala Dunia 2010 Bermula ...

Juara Bola Sepak Dunia 1966 England telah diberi laluan mudah apabila diundi dalam Kumpulan C bersama USA, Algeria dan Slovenia. Undian yang dibuat pagi tadi di Afrika Selatan merupakan undian yang paling seimbang bagi semua pasukan kecuali Kumpulan G di mana Brazil akan bertemu pasukan handal dari Ivory Cost, Portugal serta Korea Utara.

Kejohanan bola sepak piala dunia 2010 di Afrika Selatan yang dijadualkan bermula pada 11 Jun 2010 sehingga 11 Julai 2010 akan menyaksikan pertandingan pembukaan di antara tuan rumah Afrika Selatan menentang Mexico di stadium bandaraya Johannesburg.

Peperiksaan Akhir Semester September 2009 untuk pelajar-pelajar OUM bagi semua program peringkat diploma dan Ijazah Sarjana Muda bermula pada 7 Disember sehingga 31 Disember 2009.



3 lokasi peperiksaan akan digunakan untuk calon-calon peperiksaan di OUM Perak iaitu:

a) Pusat Peperiksaan OUM Perak (Jln Lim Bo Seng)



b) Pusat Peperiksaan di Bangunan PTTC, Meru Raya



c) Pusat Peperiksaan di Kolej Polytech Mara, Greentown, Ipoh, Perak



Semua calon dinasihatkan untuk memeriksa jadual yang dipaparkan di LMS sehari sebelum peperiksaan bagi mengelakkan sebarang masalah.

Bengkel Kecemerlangan Peperiksaan @ OUM Perak

Bengkel kecemerlangan Peperiksaan untuk pelajar yang akan menghadapi peperiksaan akhir semester September 2009 dari 7 Dis hingga 29 Dis telah dijalankan dengan jayanya. Sejumlah 100 orang pelajar telah menghadiri bengkel ini untuk subjek Learning Skills, English Oral Communication, Management Mathematics, Marketing Management, Introduction to Statistics dan Business Communication.

Setiap pelajar telah dikenakan bayaran sebanyak RM10 sahaja bagi membiayai bahan bengkel serta sarapan pagi yang disediakan. Ini kali pertama bayaran dikenakan untuk memastikan pelajar yang benar-benar serious hadir mengikuti bengkel ini.

Rata-rata komen yang kami terima dari pelajar yang menghadiri bengkel adalah mereka amat puas hati dengan pengendalian bengkel serta penerangan yang diberikan oleh pemudahcara bengkel.
