Aidil Fitri celebration with Orphans from Rumah Anak Yatim Darul Aitam in Temoh, Perak

A group of staff and learners including alumni from PPW Perak traveled about 60km away to a small town North of Perak called Temoh to celebrate Aidil Fitri with 60 less fortunate children from the Maahad Islamiah Darul Aitam Wa Tahfiz Orphanage. This is the second consecutive year OUM has hosted such an occasion. The celebration held on 3rd November was also attended by YBhg Toh Muda Panglima Kinta Abdul Wahab Bin Dato’ Seri Azizul (now Orang Besar Jajahan Manjung) who is representing YB Dato’ Samsuddin Bin Abu Hassan, State Assemblyman for Air Kuning, also a learner at OUM Perak.

In his speech, Richard Ng, the director of PPW Perak advised these children to study hard as whatever happened to them, is not the deeds of their parents. He stressed that these children if given proper guidance can become our future leaders. The Aidil Fitri celebration with these orphans is our contributions to the society as part of our corporate social responsibility. He praised En. Shamsul, the care taker of Darul Aitam, for his dedication and unselfish effort in bringing up these children.

According to En. Shamsul, what he did was the wish his late father, who have left the estate in the form of a piece of land and a bungalow to help take care of orphans. He said that the society has been kind to them by donating cash and kinds. Together with his wife, they took care of the orphanage with 60 children currently. These children were given proper education and a place to stay. They were also taught the Islamic religion and moral upbringing.

The orphans are given "duit raya" which was donated by OUM Learners, Staff and Tutors.

The orphans were also treated to a lunch and entertained by a clown.
