OUM 3rd PhD Colloquium

The 3rd PhD OUM Colloquium was held at OUM Main Campus on 7th - 8th August, 2010. YBhg Dato' Ir. (Hj) Ahmad Zaidee Laidin, Academy of Science Malaysia has been kind enough to deliver his very enlightening keynote address entitled: "Innovation and Excellence in Research", to a group of over 60 PhD students of OUM who have come from as far as Sarawak and Singapore.

Earlier, Emeritus Professor Tan Sri Anuwar Ali, President/Vice Chancellor of OUM delivered has welcoming address. Also present were Prof. Dr. Mansor Fadzil, Senior VP of OUM, Prof. Dr. Rosli, VP of OUM, Prof. Ramli Bahroom, Financial Controller of OUM and Prof. Mohd Ghazali, Dean of the Centre for Graduate Studies.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Day 2

Day-2 Dec 6, 2009 started at 8.30am sharp with the first speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Widad, the dean of the Faculty of Education and Language of OUM. Prof. Widad touched on the learners' learning experience at OUM and their expectations of our performance.

The second speaker was Prof. Dr. Shaari, the dean of the Faculty of Business and Management of OUM. Prof. Shaari touched on the standard and guidelines of the new assessment practices at OUM.

We then had tea break at 9.30am. At 10.00am, all the participants were gathered in their respective faculties for a group discussion and brain-storming session. Participants were given 2 hours to complete their tasks. At the end of the discussions, suggestions and ideas were collected and submitted to the management for follow-up actions.

Richard Ng, the Regional Director of Perak, were given the honor to deliver the "Thank You" speech on behalf CTMD to all speakers and participants. The 2-day session which began on December 5, were then closed by Prof. Dr. Shaari Hamid.

Participants were grouped in their respective region for a group photograph session. Participants then proceed for lunch before it was adjourned.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Dinner

On the night of Day-1, participants were invited for dinner with the Senior VP of OUM Prof. Dr. Mansor Fadzil and the Deans, held at the ball room of Cinta Sayang Resort. Dinner started sharp at 8.00pm with a speech from the OUM Regional Director of Penang, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Toh Wah followed by a speech by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Santhi, the director of CTMD.



During the dinner, participants were entertained by in-house entertainer led by none other than Prof. Mansor himself. He gave a powerful performance and participants

Richard Ng, OUM Regional Director of Perak also gave a performance by singing a Hindi song with back up dancer provided by Mr Segar, the Lead Tutor from Kedah. Then it was followed by a performance from Dr. Santhi.

Also during the dinner, Prof. Mansor was given the honor to present a new laptop to OUM Perak's new Lead Tutor, Hj. Idris.

OUM Northern Regional Colloquium for Tutors and Facilitators - Day 1

This is the third colloquium organized by the Centre for Tutor Management and Development (CTMD) of Open University Malaysia for its tutors and facilitators attached to its Northern regional centres in Kedah/Perlis, Penang and Perak.

About 150 tutors, management and staffs of OUM were present at the colloquium held at the Cinta Sayang Resort in Sungai Petani. The colloquium was opened by OUM's Senior VP, Prof. Dr. Mansor Fadzil. In his opening speech, Prof. Mansor thanked all the tutors and facilitators for their support as front liners of OUM. He reminded them to give their utmost to their students and treat them as if they are their brothers or sisters.

Present also are Prof. Ahmad, the General Manager of Meteor, a sister company of OUM, Prof. Dr. Shaari, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Management, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Widad, Dean of the Faculty of English and Language, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Santhi Regavan, Director of CTMD, Regional Directors from Kedah/Perlis (Puan Munaliz), Penang (Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Toh Wah) and Perak (Richard Ng).

Prof. Ahmad was among the speakers during the Day-1 session.
